Get involved in Clochán Liath (Dungloe) regeneration plan – Donegal Daily


Donegal County Council’s Regeneration and Development Team, in conjunction with GM Design, are pleased to announce the opening of a public consultation to hear community views on the draft Strategy and regeneration action plan an Clochán Liath (Dungloe).

The draft regeneration strategy and action plan will be presented to the public from today Tuesday April 5 until Tuesday May 2, 2022 and the public is invited to express their views on this exciting and visionary project aimed at reimagining the future of An Clochán Liath (Dungloe) Town Centre.

Welcoming the release of the draft regeneration strategy and action plan, the Cathaoirleach of the Municipal District of Glenties and local councilor, Mayor Therese Gallagher said: ‘I am delighted to see this valuable regeneration being focused on my hometown and bring the draft strategy back to the local community to get more feedback on the master plan, actions and concepts that have been included.

“I strongly urge everyone to engage in the consultation process over the next 4 weeks to ensure this project is fully informed by the input of our community and the regeneration opportunity that now exists for reinforce the particular importance of the city and its setting is maximized to its full potential.

The draft regeneration strategy and action plan has been prepared by GM Design Associates and builds on what people said during the early stages of the consultation and translates the identified challenges and proposed ideas into a vision ambitious but realistic.

Jonny Stewart of GM Design Associates said: “The people of Dungloe and surrounding areas have already played a key role in shaping the way the draft strategy and action plan has been shaped and developed and we would like to thank everyone who have participated so far. We encourage as many people as possible to give feedback on the draft Strategy and Action Plan so that we can continue to ensure it is relevant to the needs and aspirations of the local community, businesses and residents. »

Liam Ward, director of community development and planning services, added that the publication of the draft regeneration strategy and action plan is a key milestone for Dungloe.

He said: ‘It provides a regeneration-focused roadmap that will help guide and facilitate the future development of the town center and support future funding applications in the public, private and community sectors.’ “The strategy and action plan contain a range of exciting opportunities to enhance Dungloe’s valuable natural assets and unique sense of place which will result in far-reaching environmental, economic and social benefits and build the capacity of the city ​​to operate competitively as an important Strategic City”.
